Telephones
Message from Telecom
Do you have an old or spare home phone that you can give to the people of Christchurch?
Then bring it in to your your nearest Telecom store and you’ll be helping Christchurch people stay in touch with family and friends when they most need to.
Many people in the city don’t have power, and if they have a modern cordless phone – which needs power to run – they won’t be able to make calls.
The older, analogue, phones just plug straight into the wall jackpoint and don’t need power to run.
So, if you have a phone like this stored away somewhere, please think about bringing it in to your nearest Telecom store, during normal business hours. We’ll collect them up and ship them down to Christchurch as soon as possible.
Find your nearest Telecom store
And don’t worry if you have a phone but you’re not sure if it still works – our staff will test them before we send them on.
We’d really appreciate any help you can offer as these phones will allow people to stay connected with loved ones during this sad time.
Thanks The Team @ Telecom
Food Donations
Resene staff nationwide are joining together to collect as many cans of non-perishable food as possible to help feed those in Christchurch who need ongoing help as they recover from Tuesday’s devastating earthquake. If you can spare any non perishable canned food, please donate it to your nearest Resene owned ColorShop and Resene will arrange to get it to Christchurch in conjunction with the Salvation Army to ensure it gets to where it’s needed most.
Canned food donations can be made to any Resene owned ColorShop during normal shop opening hours. Resene ColorShops accepting canned food donations can be found on the Resene Site (click here)
Other Donations
The ability to donate other physical items is starting to pop up as churches, charities etc get permission to start brining these items into the city. We’ll update this with details as we learn more.
